Hi All
I have a W203 C320 with an audio 10 cassette radio, with cd changer, i have just bought an in dash monitor which i would ideally like to have installed below the radio (in the tray area). Is this easy to do? what do I need ? I intend to have the separate dvd player under the passenger seat. Has anyone done this? PLEASE ADVISE AND HELP!

that it is a third party monitor DIN sized unit from hong kong (funny name).
The DVD player is from Ebay from somewhere in the USA.

Welcome to the forum
Not done this myself but, I reckon you'd need to buy a head unit adapter cage/frame to enable your monitor unit to slot in below the audio 10 as the C class has MB specific screw side fixings. I've never looked for one but I am sure they are available .
then its a question of routing cables to your dvd player location which is quite straightforward. As long as you dont mind removing bits of trim and carpet (they go back ok too ! ) you should be able to do it yourself - I presume that is your intention?
Ever thought of fitting comand and a DVD player instead? that would be an overall neater solution with a fully OEM look. You'd need either a TV tuner or a special Adapter instead to allow a dvd player to talk to comand.

Hi Steve
Appreciate your reply as advice...you mentioned fitting comand and a DVD player instead...i avoided this with the assumption it would be very expensive, what are looking at in terms of cost? do you know where I could get an OEM one? if its reasonable, I ll just sale this stuff and invest in one.

Comands can be bought from Ebay or from Forum Member MbenzNL - price would be around 1,000 Euros or so plus GPS antenna £30 ish , plus a wiring loom adapter available from delaers at £15 ish . TO hook up a dvd player, an MB tv tuner + Loom around £350 ish or an adapter for around the same I think.
Not the cheapest option but all quality genuine MB components. You could mount your DVD player in the glove box perhaps .... or even buy a dvd changer and mount it in the boot.
but if cost is the issue & youre not bothered about satnav then your solution would be fine. You can always upgrade later if you wanted to

How are you going to get the audio from the DVD player into the stock head unit?
FM modulator
Tape Adaptor
How are you going to control the DVD player?
IR controller? it's under the seat, you would need to send the signal there via an extender.
I would have thought that the best thing to do was replace the stock head unit with an in dash FM radio/CD/DVD player. The video output of which you can play into that new screen. That would solve all your problems in one go.

FM modulators in my experience (and I have tried 3 ) are very poor quality. Only a real connection to an AUX input will give you the sound quality you require. I did modify the cassette head inputs on my volvo HU to be an aux input, this worked quite well for my NEO mp3 player.
Still not as good as replacing the HU with one that has a true AUX input.

Hi,
I have just recenlty purchased a C-Class (W203) 200K which I am very pleased with! :o)
I have also just purcahsed a used Commad 2 SatNav unit and I am looking for a wiring loom adapter for, for the C1 and C2 connectors on the back of the SatNav unit! Does anyone have any ideas if I can get this from my local MB dealer?
I went in there today and the man in the parts department said "Not all cars have the CanBus installed in them!" but he will get back to me if they have a converter to go from the current loom to the C1 and C2 conectors!
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Lewis.

Hi gas meter,
Thanks for the link!
I actually visited this site, but was not sure as it is based in Germany and needed the part by the weekend! I ended up calling Neil at Braybrook's who had them in stock and I am expecting delivery on Weds/Thurs this week. Paid £40.00 inc. VAT & Del. so not too bad! :-)
Now all I have to do is fit the unit and see if it is as easy as what I have read so far in the forums!
I just hope that all the connections are there under the dash for me and I wont be disappointed!
Thanks very much for your help any way!
Lewis.

Hi Lew
As long as you have the correct C1 and C2 leads it really is a simple install.
You are right Audiocomp are based in Germany but i have dealt with them on numerous occasions and their delivery times are about three working days from them receiving your order.I have the components to make these leads myself but just never got round to making them and they work out considerably cheaper doing it this way.
Good luck with the install.
