I seem to have trouble connecting to suppliers. I got a few quotes but now I cant seem to actually get a supplier.

Looking to place an order for .....

2 x W203 Command
1 x W210 phone kit (GSM)
1 x W203 BIX kit for Right Hand Drive car

Has anyone heard from MBenzNL ? Is he overseas doing install ?

As I am not in Europe, most suppliers are not interested.

I agree with you he is the best. However he seems to be away from his desk and I am having trouble contacting him for over a week. If someone has a direct line to him would they be kind enough to alert him to my question.

Braybrooks are a good alternative.

Hi miro

where are you based ?

If you are looking for supply only you could always try German Ebay .

I think its worth noting that with Steve Krabbenborg supplied comands - he changes the startup logo to say MBenzNL. Maybe a problem when you sell the car , especially to a dealer as it will be obvious the unit has been altered from standard. But, at least you know the unit has been properley tested and in good working order.

Gerry

This company seems ok but they were not able to ship outside UK or calculate Euro totals.

"I have no idea what the price is in Euro "

I am based in Australia. Most German sellers are not considerate to Oceania.

England 1 - Germany 0

Braybooks came back with a superb offer on a new unit. They sorted all the details including shipping, GPS module and cabling.

Thanks to GerryM - much appreciated.

It appears the best thing is to email them and wait. The poor guy I spoke to on the phone doesnt take international orders.

I understand that within Europe there are different radio steppings to Australia so it probably doesnt pay to purchase the wrong unit and not have FM radio.

I will determine that status of the units when they are installed. I will verify the gyroscope angles and other settings before I go ahead with the install.

I expect that there is more than one Euro model ..... if not .... then it can not be used in Australia.

I appreciate all of your input into this question. My next task is to figure out how I will enable the internal command options. I think I saw a post on this the other day.

I finally heard from MBenzNL .... he is finishing his house and like all things he does it himself. Now I wonder if Mercedes have Houstronic ?

I am nowhere overseas - I am still in the Netherlands - I receive more mails then I can possibly reply on a daily base - I quoted you prices on all the parts you asked for in the past quiet many mails you send - and at this moment I am trying to dig through my mails to get all unread mails replied.

If you did get a comand somewhere else - that is okay.

greetingz,

Hi Steve,

I did request purchase of this item from you but I think I am lucky not to contact you. What is apparent now is that Euro model COMAND is only compatible in EU.

AU model is only able to operate with .1 .3 .5 .7 ...... FM stations. 9Khz Jump in AM stations.

USA model is compatible on FM and Euro model ?? is it possible ?

What happens with AM .... does the station jump (9Khz, 10Mhz) matter ?

I always appreciate your advice. I would like to see price list in Euro.

Im pretty sure it isnt the German or British model. I know that the version I am getting is able to correctly tune the FM stations. So it must be the USA model.

I have read about the USA model not correctly tuning the Euro stations but I notice that the USA frequency stepping is the same as in Australia.

Does anyone know the config menu operations for the COMAND ? There would have to be a service menu inside the unit for this purpose. Then again I would expect that it is not public knowledge.

this is the biggest BS ever...I have sold more eurospec comands to Australia and even installed a eurospec comand myself on Australia and they are fully compatible...FM and AM.

US spec comands all come with a 494 code on EPC meaning that the comands are meant for North America ONLY and that they are NOT used anywhere else on this globe...
US spec comand:
1) 0.2MHz FM spacing which makes them useless almost everywhere else on this world
2) no RDS
3) no TMC (but who cares about this feature outside europe)
4) no TV and once you do get TV active it only has a german TV menu
5) weatherband

Eurospec units basically work everywhere on this globe (even AM works pretty good in the US although the eurospec unit uses a different AM spacing) but a US spec unit here in europe is useless (can't tune in on half of the FM stations).

Once again I must congratulate you on your mastery. I have verified every detail you stated in the last 24 hours. Now it is all confirmed by yourself.

I can recommend Neil to you if you want a good price on several US spec units. They are new.

Australia is the EURO model, not UK model, not USA model.

FM = 88.1 and upwards (US model is no good, but similar)
AM = 9khz steps (US is 10Khz steps)

What price was baybrook quoting?

I dont know how to express my price. As my price was the export price. The EEC price is taxed much more heavily.

I think everyone can get great price from MBenzNL and BrayBrooks. I have purchased stock for the reason to have it installed by Benz mechanics here in Australia.

I also purchased more than one.

Since I have studied the retrofit in detail, how to install and so on, I was able to satisfy the supplier that I will not cause endless problems with complaints and that my mechanics will provide extra support. So in this way I could ask for the best possible price.

In my experience the price advertised is related to the amount of headache someone will cause. You can always get a better price for the most rapid dealings.
