nope both working fine.
How many fog lights should come on at the back?

I had this. Upon closer inspection, I found a brake light bulb glass darkened, but working. I changed the bulb and that was it.

So good it tells you a bulb about to blow!

A visual check of your rear clusters is wat I would recommend. Re-seat them all too whilst there.

Cheers Graham
I will give that a bash at the weekend.

Just one, I can't remember which side though.

I sometimes need to bang the FNS sidelight to get it to come on, but usually road vibration does it for me so it's nothing much to worry about.

I've got one on the off side so no prpblem there.
I will check the bulbs this weekend, cheers guys

On one past occasion that I had the bulb blown light illuminate on the dash, the actual bulb in question failed 4 days later :bannana:

As G. said... not so much a 'failed bulb' light but more a 'you're gonna have a bulb fail in a few days' light :p :D

The circuit is very sensitive to changes in resistive load... Having said that, it failed to pick up a blown number plate light on a recent trip to 'The Ring' and Stuttgart.

*EDIT* Merc's have always had a single rear fog light. AFAIK it's on the off side (driver's side) for the UK and the other side for LHD cars. This is a design feature so that drivers following you can still see your brake lights without any difficulty.

I had an identical problem.

Had an oil leak in the boot (long story) and a few days after it started - intermittently.

Checked all the bulbs every time and all ok. Lasted a week or 2 then it stopped - been aok ever since.

I put it down to some oil getting on the wiring somewhere.

Try a front sidelight bulb, both of mine went within a day of each other

If i remember correctly, someone mentioned in the past that the number plates have two bulbs in them so look like they are ok but sometimes one of the bulbs has failed

AH Ha
Found the little bugger....it was the near side brake bulb that has started to go black, will have to wizz to Halfords later to see if they do a replacement.

Any need to get the official MB one??

Cheers all

no - but the pins are 'offset' as opposed to 'opposite' - iirc..

halfords ones dont seem to fit proper on MB's and so cause the warning light to stay on. Most others ive tried from normal accessory shops have been fine, just not halfords!

Thanks again

Just go to the dealer and get the bulb. They are normally just as cheap.:bannana:

You could just buy the Bosch equivalents from halfords instead, which is what your MB parts dept will sell you. I have a couple of halfords-own bulbs in my car and as long as they're seated properly they're fine.
