As the title, have come across a problem with the flip-out screen i have installed in my car.
Pictures below will explain a bit better.

The screen comes out but not far enough before it flips out and hits the wood panel behind. Ideally, the unit needs to be pulled out a bit further and this problem wouldnt occur.
Does anyone have a solution to this or have anyone done anything to remedy a similiar problem?
Cheers

This is something I thought about when looking at these systems.. I decided its definately not possible to have something like this in the R107 and im going to try one in the SEC..
Basically I cant think of anything that would make it work. Some units will come out horizontally first before they flip up... these may work but i suggest you try one before buying!

Is that an Alpine unit?
As my 1003r Alpine you can adjust that distance. With the screen open press and hold the button that brings the screen out after a few seconds the unit should send the screen out a bit further at the bottom. Close the screen and open it again it should now open further everytime.
Hope it works ok for you

you may need to engineer a spacer that brings the radio further out, it shouldn't be too hard to make it look as though it belongs in there.
I was looking at a flip screen sat nav the other week and decided that the problem you have discovered was going to arise so I didn't buy it

I think the elegant solution is a taxi console and a Double-Din HU with screen

The only screen I know of that will work is a Kenwood. The flip the opposite way.

As andy K, but if you could tilt it.

Will try this method first.
I had the screen installed in my old car so just thought id put it in as i had it lying around and its better than the old tape-deck sony that was in there!
If anything i will have to pull it out a little and find a way of securing and making it look OEM.
Cheers for all the advice so far everyone.

tilt won't work (or at least not without some major surgery). The radio "sleeve" is an integral moulding of the console, above it is all the air con/heater controls etc
Adjusting the screen for a longer reach sounds promising though

pupsi, andy is correct. I think its the screen open button you keep pressed and it will come forward, hopefully emough to clear where its hitting.
Its a good head unit, i have had one installed for the last 4 years! no problems

I tried to do this but nothing happened! It just folded back in. My unit is an Alpine D310R, not the one as mentioned above.

I think this will have to be the solution. With an extra 25mm it will sit perfectly when folded out. I will try and ask my local car audio shop but this seems like the only option at the moment.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Half of the reason i installed the system is because i also have the Sat Nav unit :D
(Although having the screen as it currently is makes this quite hard)
Will get pics up as soon as i sort out a solution!

Just had a quick look in the user guide and it does not say anything about changing the distance "out" for the monitor, only the angle adjustment. I have the Kenwood unit which has a seperate adjustment for this.
Looks like you may have to "make something" to get the clearance you need..... (Or take it back and buy the Kenwood  )...

Cant do that, im definitely an Alpine man :p
Plus ive had the unit for a couple years now and i got it second hand.
pupsi, i have the d310R myself and it can be moved out. on the Alpine website, check the manual online and it mentions sliding out using the monitor menu under setup. i`ll have a look next week when ive access to my car.
whether it comes out as much as you need it to is another story, best rule this out before buying anything!
page 28 of the manual
The monitor can be set in 2 positions.
Setting item: SLIDE
Setting content: BACK / FRONT
• If the monitor is forcibly pushed or pulled, you may not be able to set
the monitor angle or position. In this case, press OPEN/CLOSE to
close the monitor once, and then open the monitor again.
Selecting the Monitor Position
BACK: Slides the display backwards.
FRONT: Slides the display forwards.

Yup, this has already been done but unfortunately it still doesnt work properly.
Will have to make a spacer of some sort it seems.
