My 202 series c-class remote locking is a bit temperamental. From time to time, it does not respond. Thus far, it has always responded eventually, and will then function perfectly, until it decides to do it again. Thought it might be the battery on the key at first, but does not matter which key I use. Does not seem to be any pattern as to when it will or will not function. Is this a fault developing, or is the remote locking on these cars generally a bit temperamental?

What year is your car ?
Have you tried replacing the batteries in both keys (You don't say above whether you have or not - they could both be dead)

the car is a late 2000, X reg. I've not replaced the batteries yet, although I'd be surprised if they were both dud. One key has clearly had a lot of use, whereas the other looks unused. I'll go to the garage at lunchtime and try that.
