Hi
I’ve a 1997 w210 E300 TD with a 606 engine.
I know I have a 38 pin but do I have a OBD II connection on this vehicle??
If so, where is it ?
If not what do I need to connect to carsoft 7.4?
Thanks with anticipation

No. You need to use the 38pin connector in the engine bay fusebox.
Pin4 should be giving ISO-k line so should be suitable for OBDII services.

Thanks
IS what you saying you can wire up a 38 pin <----> OBD II
if so where can you get the pin out of both?

Pin4 of the 38 pin connector to Pin7 OBDII. Also try Pin15, 38 pin to Pin15 OBDII for the L line.
Being a '97 car there's no guarentee this will work.

Ah! So did we establish that the OBDII data exists on non-US, pre-2000 models?
If so I could be interested in buying the appropriate socket and wiring to make my own connector for this.

Definately for the petrol models but diesels don't appear to work as easily.

That's useful. I suspected that the pins had to be in there somewhere! There is an obvious reason why the diesels don't work properly: Yanks don't (didn't) do diesel.

US cars had the facility but it appers the EU ones don't. I suspect it's to keep the diagnostics 'in house'.
