My other half called this morning and said that the radio was still operating ages after the engine has been switched off and the key removed.
This is puzzling because it is a Blaupunkt on an ISO lead, with the normal switched and permanent live connections. I haven't touched it since installation three years ago, and the radio has always switched off with ignition until now.
My 202 is the facelift version with the plastic 'key.' Thanks for any suggestions.

Well it was still going 10 hrs later. I pulled fuse #10 and starved the radio of power. Odd software fault methinks. Where is Malcolm when you need him?

The Blaupunkts have a programmable length of time that they will stay on for after the ignition is cut and / or if they're turned on when the ignition is off. It might be related to this
Perhaps powering the unit down for an hour or so will remind it what it's meant to be doing. It is a computer, after all

You could try pulling out the radio and have a look at the wiring for any apparent loose/crossed wires, the Aerial is another possible source of a fault as it is involved in the on/off function of the radio.

Also have a Blaupunkt in my w202 C240. It started doing exactly the same thing, when turning the ignition off and removing the key, the radio would go off then come back on.
In the end I traced it down to my bluetooth hands free system. When it is plugged in to recharge in the 12v socket, it for some reason switches the radio back on.
The bluetooth system can be turned on and not plugged in, and it doesnt happen. Any chance this could be happening to you?

Thanks for the replies. I'm not aware of bluetooth on the unit and don't use it on my phone. The neighbours will have it though.
I will check the wiring if the fault recurs. If not, then will assume the fault was just a glitch that can be blamed on the radio - its just a computer as Nick says.
I'm not aware of Malcolm's offence (was it the IBW thread?) but evidently he got life without parole...
