Hi

The gremlins have struck my car again, at least this time it is the petty annoying gremlins that irratate rather than disable the car.

When I go to Postcode entry the defaults to O as the first letter of the postcode. This is great if I want to go to Oxfordshire, but not so useful for the rest of the country!

Is this a known problem is there a cure, or (gulp) is is a syptom of a dead navigation disk?

All the best and kind regards

David

Unlikely to be the disk itself unless dirty.

What version of the disk are you using and in which type of comand?

Okay, have you tried a full reset?

This will wipe your stored locations;

Press SERV
Press System
Press Reset
Yes
Yes

Then see what it does.

Mine (in a late 2004 facelift W203) has always been a bit iffy on post-code entry. Was the same with the original DVD and now I'm using V6.3.

I don't use the car much, but yesterday I used the car to go somewhere new and it was quite a struggle to get COMAND to take the post-code. In the past, it has seemed to default to Germany, but yesterday I'm not quite sure what was wrong.
Anyway, I went to the country menu, selected GB, and it worked fine after that.

I've tried to demo the fault to the dealer, but of course it worked fine there.

That said, when you select postcode - the cursor does go straight to the letter O. Maybe you've got an oversensitive Select button that you're nudging as you navigate to another letter?

Today I was trying to enter a street in a large town and it wasnt there - in fact few were .. ejected disc - put back in and no problems there they all were.

Try ejecting the disc and put it back in.... it may work
