W208 Digital Dash Panel Illumination

The illumination of the right side of the digital dash info panel on my 1999 CLK 320 appears to have failed. I can still read the information but it is no illuminated. This is affecting only the right third of the dash.

Is there a bulb I need to replace or is this not repairable. I've had a search but can only see reference to missing pixels etc which is not the case here.

Cancel, I think I've now discovered this is a bulb issue thank god! I'll see if I can remove the dash as per the How To's over the weekend.

Hi Darren

Just replaced the bulbs on mine .

They are 1.2w , £7 for all three from the stealer ... replace all three otherwise you can guarantee that one of the others will fail a week from now !

Be careful getting the cluster out , i bottled it so Alfie / Olly did it for me :o

I have exactly same problem on 2000 clk. Dealer told me £900 for new cluster not understanding simple bulb failure and confusing with lost pixels which I dont have. Will now return and ask for bulb replacement.

Hi Bal,

No doubt the stealer will try to bill you for an hours labour ( £110 ) , i watched Olly do mine and it is literally a 5 minute job.

You could do it yourself if you have the cojones.

Pull the cluster out, unscrew the bulbs, fit new ones and press the cluster back in.

Slide them down the side of the cluster , twist 90 degrees and pull the cluster out ...
