To make a driverside auto dimming mirror active - you need a dimming rearview mirror...looking at your car in the sig - you need dimming wiring as well (from side to rearview mirror) and a different connector in your mirror for combined heating/dimming (which is not seperately available).

Sounds like I should stay with the standard mirror glass as it will be too costly to do a rear view mirror mod as well.

Cheers for the info

Does anyone know if combined with an interior Dimming RVM that a drivers auto dimming glass will fit straight in a 1999 W202 (which already has heated mirrors) without any wiring changes??

If so, please advise. Also, Pluggers may I ask where you were getting the dimming one from, is it still available and if so can I have 1st refusal?

cheers

Sym, as long as they are for a pre-facelift car, they are the same glass 202 and 210.
Some cars do have the pre-installed wiring, but many do not, i am not too familiar with wehich ones do exactly...

PM me for a price.

Cheers

Sym has a 202 with updated (blinking) 210 mirrors...

ALL non dimming sidemirrors come without wiring and connector inside the mirror...so both sym and graham will need to get their hands on that connector (sym's might have such a connector at his pass side - don't know) which is usually pretty hard.

Having done the rear view mirror autodim mod (thanks V12), now hands are itching to do the side mirror mods to blinking/folding/dimming on my W202 (bitten by the mod virus)..

Been looking at some mirrors from germany where the seller says that their mirrors are dimming on both sides, is it possible? do i need to get two dimming harness, one for drivers side and one for pass side?

I know that there's a lot to do to get this done, what with the folding and dimming harness, the connectors, switch and all plus the time. (to familiarise myself, even considering to swap over the dimming/folding of my W210 to my W202..hmmm..for practise) ;)

Thanks for any input.

I think the only way to have dimming both sides, is to have a drivers side mirror from both a LHD and RHD car.

How this works with the fact the mirror glass is different from Left to Right due to the distance from the driver and perspective etc I don't know, but I think MBenz has this mod and MikeC200 is about to do the same.

No mercedes comes with 2 dimming sideview mirrors from factory - german sellers will say anything to get their stuff sold (especially the ones operating through Ebay) - be aware that their pass side mirrors (your driverside) won't be auto dimming.
