Alfie or Comand expert...Condensation in CD changer??

I bought my car in the colder weather in February, I have a CD Auto changer in my glove box - I noted that sometimes when getting in the car first thing in the morning, the changer would jump and it almost sounded like the speakers were almost cutting in an out - like an electrical fault maybe.

I figure it might just be that the laser needed cleaning so I ran a head cleaner through it but to no avail.

I hadn't noticed that it had actually stopped being temperamental over the past 4 weeks or so till yesterday morning when it was cold and damp again....but yesterday and today it's doing it again.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is it common to get condensation or moisture in the changer which would cause this? - it's the only thing I can think it could be! After playing it for a few minutes it goes away completely and all is fine, hence me wondering if it might be getting damp in there.

Check all rubber seals around the doors, check windscreen seal, any holes in the glove box where the wires go? are they sealed properly?

Its best to find the reason,, but for now pop som gel bags into the glove box and see what happens

wish regards to your suggestion Evdok of looking at seals etc, the car doesn't appear to be damp at all anywhere else - but I will have a double check to see it's not letting in some moisture somewhere!

Sounds like a heat related fault to me. I bet its always fine after being on for a while?

Heat in what way tho? As in when it's cold it doesn't like it? because when it's fine warm weather it's ok. Other than condensation, why would it do it?
And yes it's fine after a while of it being on.

Could be a dry joint inside the changers PCB. This means that when its warm the joint heats up (and after use there will be heat), so the joint expands and the connection is made, hence no more problems. when its cold the joint contracts hence breaking the connection.

So would it be worth me trying to get another multi changer tray for it? Or is it more likely the mechanism of inside the unit?
Sorry for the blonde questions, but if it's likely something simple like the cartridge I'll be tempted to try to get a spare part.

If it's the PCB then thats internal to the actual changer unit itself

Hubby has asked me to post that he thinks it seems to do it sometimes when you turn the engine power on, but before you actually start the car - i.e. when on the lights come on. Then as soon as you actually start the car (the command unit obviously stops and restarts breifly) it is then fine.....
