Hi,

I've recently had my car repaired, tookt the garage 2.5 weeks to source a part and fix my ignition barrel.

In the time it was in for repair the battery went flat, once the reapir was complete and work paid for I have found that the Command Unit/Strereo has no power to it???

Garage have checked fuses under the bonnet which are okay and think it may be a fuse behind the command unit/panel itself??? They are currently attempting to source some keys to pull the unit out......this was a week a go???

Can anyone advise on what the problem maybe and or if it may well be the fuse behind panel.

Help much appreciated.

Thanks

There is a 10A fuse in the back of the comand unit.

All you need are the keys and any half decent car audio shop will have them.

the keys part number W 000 589 88 63 00 cost £1 from MB.

But I cannot see any connection with the ign switch and how that could blow any fuse on the Comand

Not sure where i stand with this, the unit was working when it went into the Garage, not working after repair to the ignition barrel. It wont be linked to that.

I was assuming fuse may have blown at some point when the car was being restarted after being dead for two weeks on the gargage forecourt.

Thanks for letting me know the keys only cost £1, the guy at the garage apparantly visits Mercedes daily to get parts and is waiting on a friend who works there to pass the keys, it's been a week.... ?? If i'd know they were so cheap I would have done it myself......

cheers for the info, appreaciated!

Does the cigar lighter work as I believe that they share the same fuse in the main box, I am not 100% on this but most cars were wired like this up to 1999 and a barrel type switch

Just a bit more info, the radio and cigar lighter are fed from the ign switch and should work in Key 1, have the pulled a wire out ??

Checked the Cig Lighter which works....Have some keys ordered form Merc and will pickup today, hopefully it is just the fuse behind the Stereo unit panel......
