Non functioning Auto Dimming RVM - W202

Hi all

I bought a auto dimming RVM for a E430 from ebay to fit my 99 W202. I have fitted it and connected it as per the excellent HOWTO. I can't get it to work:(

I have tried blocking the sensor on the rear and shining a torch on the front, nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas?

test the mirror by joining it up to 12 volts

The 12v feed for the auto dim mirror is switched and will not be present if the interior lighting is on, and when reverse is selected.
Function test for auto dimming RVM, quoted from MB work sheet as follows,
Ignition on, cover photocell (sensor on mirror facing the bonnet) e.g with a dark cloth. Illuminate the mirror surface photocell with a torch light. The reflection surface of the automatic dimming inside mirror should darken.

I was trying it with the interior light on.....:rolleyes:

Glad you got it sorted, £6.25 thats a bit of a bargain better than the £60 I paid for mine.
