Sorry I'm not Malcolm, but here (http://cpc.farnell.com/MF67712/electrical-lighting-security/product.us0?sku=sunon-kd1212ptb2-6a-gn) is one option...

Supposedly the fan's the problem, but that's just what the workshop think.

What are chokes?

That's the right size too!

Apparantly this (Chinese made!!) fridge cost £1606.13 from MB so I thought it's worth a bit of time to try to get it working again...

All it is a fan and a heat sink, it's not a proper fridge.

Looks like a pretty standard computer/server fan. Probably pretty cheap to replace.

What size is it?

[EDIT] ahh, 120mm beat me to it. :)

The choke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choke_%28electronics%29) is the coil of wire wrapped round the yellow ring in your photo.

Chokes are the varnished coils.

If you disconnect the wires from the motor to the circuit, you can put it on 12 volt to test, (observe polarity) if it is faulty, then the last minute link is the one.

If you do not have an account with them , I do, but there is a £40 min order charge of £4 I believe. I can get one sent to you.

Just reading you post on another screen where its been up dated, if you want to send me the whole thing I can test it out and fix seeing that it has a heat sink

Even cheaper than the Sunon one.

I assume there's no reason why this would not do the job?

As it has a heat sink, that means it has a semiconductor and that is 10 X more like to fail than the fan, as said earlier thats easy to test

The heat sink is just a big lump of finny aluminum that the fan blows air onto to give the cooling effect (the sort of thing you'd expect to find in a £10 Woolworths coolbox!).

I'll try giving the fan 12v and see what happens...

You must take the wires from the motor off where it joins into the electronic bits, at least one, ,, there is a control unit on it as I can see some of it in the picture

Before condemning the fan pull the label back and lube the bearing. They are really weak motors and the friction causes them to stall.

As you have found it's just a cheap computer fan available from anywhere.

There's a board on one side:

And the motor plugs into this one on the other side:

OK just unplug the motor and try it, I think it will work and be othe PCB at fault, but who knows test it and see
