Im taking my R230 Sl into my local dealer tomorrow to have it checked out on their STAR system as my parking sensors are playing up. Diagnosis (in forum & by Dealer over phone is either a faulty sensor or the control unit)

The dealer is doing STAR for free...very good!

But when it comes to fixing the sensor or the unit how much is involved and what would be a reasonable price? I would like to manage my expectations and be prepared to say yeh or nay to his quote!;)

I still feel that if the display is is showing a fault on both readout displays that the fault is in the control unit.

I can give you details of how to get to it.

If the fault was a sensor I feel that it would only show up on the relevant display

Unfortunately Ithink you are correct...

how much is a new control unit?

Getting to it is a matter of how long it takes and what "poppers" Im going to break! Ive had a look and it seems reasonably straightforward:confused:

My thought are that if you unplug the sensors from the control unit you will have the answer.

You have to remove the nearside boot trim to get to it

I think your parking sensors are shutting themselves down because of a fault (sensor or control unit like its been said) when you turn it back on I believe it self tests all the the displays and buzzer.
My w202 does exactly the same thing and I have believed it to be sensors as the previous owner had the bumpers repainted inc. the sensors. :(
