Hi all,
We have an X reg 2000 Mercedes C Class 220cdi estate.
Over the last year the instrument cluster LEDs have begun to fade, so now I can no longer read the odometer/temperature/clock display. Some of the bars still light but it can no longer be read properly! The speedometer, rev counter, oil temp + fuel all work fine.
Is this a common problem? Any ideas on how to fix? Is it a case of changing bulbs or does it need to be replaced?
Many thanks in advance.

There are two buttons labelled + and -. Press + repeatedly until it bright enough for U. Failing that you have to remove the whole instrument cluster to change the bulbs be careful not to scratch the plastic front.

Thanks Dragon. I've tried the +/- but that only increases the brightness of the LEDs that haven't faded.
Is it quite obvious where the light bulbs are that need changing?
Can i get the bulbs from my usual mercedes dealer?
Thanks again

Yes and yes. Just make a note of the ones that need replacing and get yourself down to the dealers. They will ask which ones you need as IIRC there are different types.

If some of the led segments are not working take a look here:

I've done this on my car and it completely sorted the mileometer and the gear display.
The clock still has some bits not working but it was the mileometer I was most interested in fixing.
