I was pretty sure my W215 would lock itself if I inadvertently left it unlocked. However, the service guy at my local dealer reckons it will only do this if you don't open a door, i.e. if you unlock the car but don't get in.
This seems pretty pointless. Am I right or is the MB guy?

Open a door and it wont auto lock itself.
Not so important with a KG car that knows where it's key is but with a standard SmartKey you could get the key locked in.

Mine's Keyless Go, I don't expect it to lock itself with the Keyless Go key inside the car but I do expect it, in fact I'm sure it used, lock the car without the Keyless Go key when I forget to.

Do you mean when you walk away from the car but you don't hit the button?
If it does its optional, I've had that thrown at me by customers many a time and it wound Clarkson up a fair bit with his SL not auto locking as he walked away.
They will all auto lock if they are unlocked but no door is opened, do they lock automatically when you leave them after opening a door i would need to check.

Dan I believe that the car has to be in a locked state, you can go to it and take out something but not start it up and I believe that mine will lock itself again in about 5 mins

That was my experience. But it doesn't do it now and they say it they don't think it can be done.

Right.
I think you can open the door but just dont turn the ignition on then it will re-lock. Do some testing with it

Yes mine does lock with the keyless go key, but as Ollie and I said, just opening the door and closing it again

Never tried that.
Well if it did that before and now it doesn't then something has obviously been changed.
It was the door they where poking around with wasn't it?

This happens with the standard remote central locking. If you unlock the car with the key fob but then don't open a door within ~20sec it locks itself again.

yes.Thats what mine does; unlock but then walk away/do nothing etc and it will relock but only if the key isnt in the ignition. If you open the door and chuck the keys on the seat???havent tried that...not going to!

I do not think that you can lock keyless go cards in the car

Correct it won't let you so long as it can see the key in the car, thats the reason why car's without keyless won't automatically lock once you have opened a door.
They could lock the key in the car by accident.

Obviously the car won't lock if the Keyles Go key is in the car. That would be really stupid. It would explain why it doesn't do it with the ordinary key because you could lock that in the car as the car does not know where the key is. It may be that it only works with the Keyless Go and not with the normal key. I'll do some testing.
I'm still not sure about the car not having been fired up with Keyless Go for it to work. That is exactly the scenario I remember. Get home, get out of car, forget to lock doors, go back and doors were locked.

The drivers seat controller. Just tested it and, using Keyless Go it re-locks after 40 seconds if you don't open the door. So far it hasn't locked after opening the door and reclosing it.
I'm also sure I read this in the manual somewhere but can't find it now.

I suppose you might have sorted the problem by now .... but have you tried to change the batteries in the keyless go card?

Any idea where I can get the latest navigation CD for the C Class 2003 model for a reasonable price. Even if someone else is able to make a copy of the cd from me, then I would be happy to pay something for it. Thanks

Buy a new disc from Alfie on this site (authorised reseller) and get a brand new original without scratches - that's the recommended option.
Buy second hand from fleabay and risk getting a severly scratched copy, one that is outdated or even an illegal copy that doesn't work.
Don't copy them, they are copyrighted, protected and in most cases such a copy won't work or only work erratically.
The price of a nav CD is only the small change of the total motoring cost...
