Hi,
Last night my W208 gave me the 'check bulb' warning. But on looking around the car it seemed as if all bulbs are working ok!
Does this warning come on for exterior lights only, or could it be I have some minor interior bulb that has blown?
Thanks

The bulb check circuit is so sensitive it can tell you when a bulb is *about* to fail!
Keep your eyes open, you can bet one of the bulbs is within a couple of days of going pop.

I hope it's not one of my Phillips Extreme bulbs, as I bought them only last month for £23!

It's probably a tail-lamp bulb; indicator, reverse or brake as they are turned on and off all the time rather than being on for sustained periods. Plus the filament is on it's side and that always makes for weak spots.
My parents have an extractor fan over the cooker with a lamp in it and the bulb used to go every few weeks because it was mounted horizontally! An energy-saving bulb eventually sorted that problem out.

As you say bulbs (domestic) horizontal only have 25% of the life of one hanging or at 45 degrees.
Car bulbs are of a different construction and run on DC and so do not have the same problems.
