Help - harness needed for new audio or not? w203 coupe

Can someone help, as I'm really confused now and going round in circles :crazy:

I've got a 53 plate C Class Coupe and I want to put an aftermarket (non oem) headunit into it. Do I need a harness adapter or not?

The only harness adapters I can find on the net are for post 2004 models, ie facelift models, so that makes me think I don't need one for my 53 plate.

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, from an installation newbie point of view, is this checklist right for all the parts I need:

Headunit
Stalk Adapter
Harness Adapter
Fascia

Anything else? Can anyone provide any tips or pointers for a pre facelift model c class coupe?

The din A (power connector) has no switched power or lights connection or speed pulse - they come over the CANbus on the 'C' connector. So you need some way of getting those signals sorted.
