Folks,

Has someone done this fix before and figured out what part is needed to do this? I'm not sure where to start. See below picture of where the bulb is......

Lift white flap away from bulb. Slip a bit of tubing/hose over bulb and pull out.

Sorry to hijack this thread.
I have the same problem.
Does anybody know the part Number for this bulb.

Thank you

Alex.

i used a small pair of tweezers, easy to put back too. They are ordinary small 3watt (i think) capless bulbs, if memory serves me right lol

Thank you for that.
I will try Halfords or Maplin tomorrow.

3W sounds high to me, doesn't it get hot? The part number should be A002 544 02 94.

I'll wait till Monday and order from dealership.

I guess you cannot get the bulb from the dealer tomorrow. Do you have a good one on the other dial, could check the size (I assume it is not printed on these small ones). And wouldn't the wattage be likely the same if the size is the same? Just if you wanted to have it fixed sooner.

Halfords sell these as 286 bulbs

I have now taken the bulb out.
It does have something written on it, but I'm an old bugger and eyesight is not as good as it used be , and cant read what it says. Can't find a magnifying glass.

Antway this is what it looks like.

Update.
Wife just came home from work and got her to read what it says.

Diesel Benz was right, 3w is too high. It say's 12v 1.2w and has the Number 9 under it.

Thank you for all your input.

Best Regards,

Alex.

I use a kids drinking straw to extract these, and to put the back. (pushes nicely over the bulb to extract, put ever so slightly on the top of the bulb to re-insert)

If you drop them, they disappear into the switch :-(

they are a nightmare to replace, i have done it a few times on my w202 and every time it ends up taking the best par of 30 mins....
i use needle nose pliers with a rag or i have seen it done with a small piece of hose pipe...

I used a bit of tubing you get for fish tank filters and it worked a treat to remove.

Just hope it's as easy to reverse the process once I find the bulb.

If I remember right, MB instructs to use a device like this, don't remember if it was an official MB tool, would be nice to buy one and get a kids drinking straw with an MB price tag on it.

All done.
The Bulb is from Halfords and as per High-Lo's post it is Number 286.
Only difference is it's not 1.3w but 1.2w. Dont think that will affect it in any way

That's the bulb I used to replace the broken one. I used a hair plucking tweezers to get the bulb out. It was alot easier getting it out once I snapped off the opaque white plastic cover over the bulb.:D

I bought an OEM bulb from the stealers a few months back as a replacement.

About £1.70 IIRC, its not as bright as the other side, would that be the 3-2watt diffrence then?
