Hi Guys, this is my first post as just picked up a CLK Cab 230K yr 2000/W for my wife today, and it has a few niggling things.
1) How do i change the mirror indicator bulbs?
2) The windows dont open when opening the door and dont close when shutting the door (this is a common fault believe?), how do I fix this?
3) Is there any other things I shold watch out for?
Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason, I take it you want to fit new indicators strips in the mirrors.
With the windows try a re set by holding the window button down for 10 sec with the key turned to 2 then do the same in the up mode.

Hi Jason, welcome to the forum :)
I take it you mean to change the silvered bulbs in the front indicators? If yes then, yes you can fit LED cluster "bulbs"

Thanks again, if the window thing doesnt reset, is it electrical units that need replacing?

Your car maybe too old to have that feature and I am sure it is.

Hmmm, I would have thought the cars should do it?, my old BMW was 1998 and had it?

I am 99% certain that the handbook does not mention this, but wil recheck tonight, but I think BLACKC55 is right these cars are too early for this feature.
I rented a 2006 SLK 6 months ago, and it did do this, it certainly helps in closing the doors, but I fear that it can't be done on our cars.

I cant believe it doesnt do this, as shutting the door can be a right pain:mad:

What does the handbook say? If the car has this feature there's likely to be a warning about not opening/closing the doors with the battery disconnected (because of potential damage to the windows and seals). This is certainly the case with my SL.

Alfie says in this thread that his 2002 CLK had the feature, I wonder when it came in, as mine is post facelift as well. Now I want it.

Agree, it releases the vacum and makes the doors shut with ease:crazy:

Agree, it releases the vacum and makes the doors shut with ease:crazy:Hang on, saloon cars don't have this feature and they are more airtight than a soft top. It's to do with getting a good seal between the window and the hood (to prevent noise and water ingress), rather than vacuums. I'm not a CLK expert, but on SLs the earlier cars without this feature have different seals. With later cars, opening or closing the doors with the window drop/raise disabled is difficult and can cause damage ... because the window has to "push past" the lip of the hood.
As mentioned, check your handbook.

Is this what you want to do with your mirror repeaters?

Simple job, and I'm pretty sure that the 170 and 208 mirrors are identical.

Thats expensive and I do not think that they are an MB part, from MB they cost around £17 for any type.
The last time I had a bulb one in my hand, I felt sure it would be possible to convert to LED
It is expensive, Malcolm, and you're right they're not an MB part.
They do look good though - brighter, and a faster turn on/off time.
And who ever said style was cheap?:)

Update**
I contacted an owner (on ebay) with the same model and year as our car, his windows do go down slightly when opening the doors, this makes me think that ours should be doing it and isnt, I must admit I think they should as the doors are a right pain to shut, it takes 2 or 3 hard slams to do it:confused: :(
