Wife unlocked the car this morning with the remote and went to work. When she arrived the key fob wouldn't lock the car so she left it unlocked for the day.Upon returning home tonight I checked the batteries in the remote and its operation (red light after a few seconds) - all OK. I then checked fuse 'C' in the fuse compartment - OK. I can press the latch/button on the door in the car on the drivers side and it locks all the doors and when the handle is pulled the pump whirrs and unlocks everything . Now outside none of the LEDS on the drivers door nor the tailgate flash ? Tried removing fuse 'C' for 10 seconds + - no joy , disconnected and reconnected the battery - no joy. Tried the advice given on the forum to resync the remote - including the owners manual version - no joy . So now she has to lock the car from the inside , climb over and exit the car on the passenger side and like wise unlock the passenger door with the key (it only operates the passenger door - is this correct ?) reach across and open the drivers door then walk around and get in. I have also tried my two spare remote keys and these are the same - no effect ! Any ideas anyone ????

Thanks - that was the syncro instructions that applies to my car :)
Not what Mercedes have printed in my handbook ? Well happy with the results though :)

Glad you got things sorted. There is a lot of confusion about how to successfully synchronise keys to alarm systems. Best thing now is to check out your spare keys (with new batteries installed) with your successful method so you have a couple of working spares for the future.
Not sure why that method worked since its designed for the W202 model, but as long as you duplicate it EXACTLY and its successful then great.;) ;)

I don't see how that method would work on a W124 either as there are no sensors in the mirror

Wife should be able to centrally lock car manually from (outside) passenger door with the flip key. Does not put alarm on, but at least car is easily locked without all the "faffle" she was going through.
If that cannot be achieved then something wrong with your car.
Perhaps useful for next time.

Perhaps its a 210 E230, it must be if it worked

The flip key was only locking and unlocking the passenger door. The sensors are fitted in the drivers door handle and the boot. There is a key hole in the boot and passenger door only as it is the W124 face lift version .;)

In that case your car has a fault, as the car should centrally lock from the passenger door with the flip key. The alarm will not be set.
Do not be misled by the fact the car has the I/Red sensors, they are only there for remote locking.
The standard mechanical central locking is retained with I/Red locking, all be it from the passenger door.

The car now fully locks and unlocks with the IR control - as it should so I'm well happy with the result :)
On another note though I will be selling the car for spares or repair next week. MOT'd until May/June full leather interior (with usual wear on drivers bolster).
It requires :- small bit of welding in inner wings , new exhaust , and it's a bit bouncy on the rear end.
It has 303k on the clock - full service history doesn't use or leak oil (head gasket was sorted by previous owner - only one before me) perfect gearbox (4 speed auto) ,5 x alloys , sunroof etc etc (dark metallic blue)and is a daily driver doing 40+ miles 5 days a week.
If anyone wants to make me an offer they can drive it away :)
If not - it's on Ebay next week ! ;)
All and any offers considered.
