So the X-reg W210 is back into the workshop for more rust warranty work on the doors - this time on the lower door seals which they missed when they did the upper door seals back in July. Also there is corrosion on the bonnet which they will pick up this time round after some arguments with Customer Serivces, but that's another story...

Anyway loan car is A170 with factory fitted Parktronics which I am dead impressed with. Coinicidentally there was a discussion on the radio today regarding what gadets one cannot live with. Following my brief experience, I think Parktronics should be on the list! So looking to retrofit parktronics on the (soon to be rust-free?) W210 when I get it back in two weeks time.

I remember reading somewhere that it is best to get the Parktronics from a donnor car replacing the sensors in the bumper with new ones.

Question is, what parts besides the front and rear parktronics displays will I need from the donnor car? Are there any other electronic modules required or is it simply the front and rear displays plus wiring harness and bumper sensors?

Thanks.

Theres a main loom, a controller, displays, and possibly some short looms from the displays to the main loom. Theres also a loom in each bumper.

If I remember right, the bumper rubbing strips come off and you replace with one with the holes - much better then the new cars where they don't have detachable bumper strips.

Now, I have a set of 10 brand new sensors A001 542 74 18 - retail price £43.40 each, PM me if you want a big discount !
(The same sensors are used on new ML/GL/R, W203 C, CLK, old and new E, new SLK, Maybach, old A, old S/CL, etc etc - but not new A/B class)

Cheers
Richard

Thanks. Do you know where the controller lives in the car and if this needs to be connected to the main ECU to get speed signal, forward/reverse selection etc? Will the controller and/or ECU need to be configured or enabled by a STAR computer?

Thanks

The main loom will integrate with whats already in the car you just route it into the correct place and install, sometimes its just installing connectors sometimes you need to install pins into connectors already fitted.

Does any one know if the PTS from a 98 W210 saloon fit a facelift year 2000 estate?
