Hi guys, first post on here so go easy on me:) , I have a very intermitant fault on my CLK320 (W208) causing the heater blower not to run on any speed. It always happens when starting the car after being left & if I drive a few miles the fan will start all on it's own & then be fine for days & sometimes weeks, It has also NEVER packed up once running. It has only happend twice in the last 2 months but always picks the time you really need it to play up, last time was on my way home from work last night & I only drove 1/4 of a mile before it started up & was fine this morning.

Doing a search on here (one post not too far down the page) there are others with problems relating to the fan motor brushes wearing out &/or fan control unit (The bit next to the fan), Does this sound like a good place to start & likely cause & should I have a look at the brushes first?.

Thanks for any help.

Blower motor is where my money is.

Try Euro car parts for a motor

Hi Marshy and welcome, the fan brushes are the most common fault, often as you drive the car the air forced in can start the fan motor. with a volt meter over the brushes this would confirm it

The anoying thing is it's always working perfectly when I come to look at it , Would the volt meter confirm any problem before I pull it to bits & does the motor come out easy?.

If the voltmeter indicates that you have got a supply going in and it not working, that would confirm it

Yes there are only 3 screws

Thanks for the info , I'll slip the motor out when I have some spare time & see what the condition of the brushes are like:)
