View Full Version : SRS light on 1998 210
Hi
The SRS light stayed on when i started my 1998 210 estate last week and will not go off.
Is there anything i can do to get it off apart from getting codes read etc at the dealer?

Check the connections under the seats.
Get the codes read then go from there. Should only cost £20-30 to do that.
Hi
I have checked them and put resistors across connections etc but can get the "Airbag Off" light to stay on but cant get the SRS light to go off. Does it need a reset to get it off?? I suspect the seat pad recognition and was trying to simulate it being ok with a resistor if you know what i mean but light wont go off. Question is does it need the code cleared before light will go out even if i fit a new seat pad??
Thanks,

Yes. The fault will have to be erased.
Hi
Thanks, thats what i was thinking. Will get codes read and replace what is required (prob seat pad) and get it reset.
Thanks,

Most values are around 3.6Ω for the sensors
I thought that are self clearing as a child seat can be plugged in.

I was led to believe that once the SRS light was on it was one of the faults that required a reset via STAR or equivalent.

I was led to believe that once the SRS light was on it was one of the faults that required a reset via STAR or equivalent.
I was once told by an MB Tech that you can sometimes clear it by cycling the ignition on and off a few times in quick succession. So from 0 to engine start to 0, repeated about five times. He said it worked on some of the older Mercs.
When we tried it on my W202 it DIDN'T work. We had to hook up to Star.
But might be worth a go on your W210.
Anyone else heard of this procedure for clearing the SRS fault?

Most SRS faults on a W210 will clear themselves... definately seat pad sensors and seat belt buckles will..
Hi
It didnt clear itself, got a local indi to reset on tuesday and has been off since. See my other post with codes.
Thanks,
