Not sure on the R Class, but there is usually an interlock solenoid latch that can be moved out of the way to release the selector.

There seem to be a few of these flood damaged cars popping up now...

a friend has purchased a flood damaged........... :D Game on :) .

I feel sorry for anyone that unknowingly buys one of these vehicles as I fear we are going to see any number of posts with similar requests.

Regards
John

I don't see how they can buy on unknowingly. At the moment none of them run and they are all subject to insurance total loss so will be 'recorded' by the ABI.

I just looked at the interactive manual and it says if the battery is flat and the vehicle is stuck in Park, then to shift into Neutral power must be supplied in the same way as jump starting.

These flood damaged MB's would make great buys for MB mechanics - everyone else is taking a huge risk.

Ebay will be a great place for the con?
