Sorry to open this discussion up again !!

Has anyone got the N95 working with the integrated car kit ?

If so....

are you using a SAP or HFP cradle ??
what is the performance like ??
can you access your contacts in the phone memory ??
can you access your contacts in the simm card ??
does the txt feature still work through the comand console ??

Any help - as I need a new phone - would be gratefully accepted

Thanks

I am using an N95 with a SAP Bluetooth module.

It downloads my contacts from the sim I think but not the phone, I can do messaging from comand too.
It all works very well btw:D

Hi
I tried this out earlier this week with someone's N95 on a SAP V2 cradle - it downloaded the phonebook fine, and identified the mobile and home numbers seperately (by using /M and /H on the names)
Took a little fiddling to make it pair, but worked after that !
Cheers

Richard - when you say it downloaded the phone book is that from the phone or the sim?

I'd bet it was the SIM. As SAP is Sim Access Protocol.
In theory HFP (Hands Free Protocol) is better as it 'should' access the memory AND sim but in practice this only works with certain phones.

I don't know the details but SAP is the protocol that allows the MB BT puck to use the SIM security features from the SIM card on the phone, over a BT connection. This protocol would not perform the phone book transfer, that should be independent from SAP and the same as for BT HF profile.

The fact that the SIM phone book is transferred must be either an issue of the phone implementation or perhaps it is possible to request one over the other (and then some mobiles may ignore the SIM/phone request and you may have different behaviour).

If anyone would have the option to use both BT puck types with the same phone, this could be tested further, normally BT SAP phones allow either BT SAP or BT HF being used. On the other hand, the two BT pucks might have been implemented differently. Should invite some Peiker employees to join the forum...

There is some updated compatibility information here:

and...

No N95 though.
I had read that N95 with SAP v2 downloads the phonebook from the SIM but not the memory. With HFP the N95 thinks the MB kit is a BT Headset and doesn't get your phonebook.

Would be great if somebody proved me wrong (I have an N95!!)

The N95 is in the list for the SAP module in the first link above.

For anyone who's interested, I have an N73 running with the SAP device and also have TomTom Version 6 running in my phone.

Amazingly the N73 maintains a dual bluetooth connection between my SAP and the satellite receiver!!

Im due a phone upgrade next month and im in a pickle as to what to have. Another N73 maybe?

Anyone know if TomTom have made the software to run on the N95 yet? This would allow me to do away with my satellite receiver.......

Having said that, I've been told the battery life of an N95 is utter pants!

Any Nokia N95 users may be interested in an article in the October 2007 issue of Personal Computer World (on front cover) showing how to unlock the feature allowing landline, and WiFi calls with the phone. It's not yet on the PCW website which is only showing the Sept issue contents.

It is, especially if you're using WLAN, GPS which really hammer the battery life.

It's so bad we actually had to distribute a communication regarding it because we were getting so many calls. Customers were chewing through a full charge in a matter of a hours

Yes, but as mentioned, I suspect SIM phonebook download only

Oh yes! Especially if you use GPS etc.

Normal use is acceptable (just). I get around 3 days from a full charge with a few calls per day. However, I turn it off late evening usually.

Richard - when you say it downloaded the phone book is that from the phone or the sim?

thanks

It was from the phone (Sim doesnt contain multiple contacts per name).

You have to tell it to do the download (by dialing 0000 on COMAND) and the SAP connection drops, the phone tells you the contacts are being downloaded, then SAP re-establishes.

do you have to tell it (0000) everytime you get in the car or only once (and then when your phone book has changed) ??

Thanks

Once (and when phonebook has changed). I dont know what happens when you pair it / its pairs with a different phone (i.e do you have to re-download, or whether it keeps one phonebook per pairing - since it can pair with 4 devices)

If the N95 believes the MB HFP BT puck was a headset, isn't it a bug in the BT puck? On other BT HF car kits that I've tried, the N95 connects as HF (according to the icon).

But why don't you (who ever it was who originally had issues with N95) use the BT SAP puck then if the HFP puck does not work with N95.

OK, Having picked up my new ML on Saturday I've managed to play around with both the HFP (B67875877) and SAP (v2) (A2048200535) module with a Nokia N95.

The HFP module pairs very easily and once paired connects very quickly after you unlock the car. You can make/receive calls but NO phone book download.

The SAP module takes a little more messing around but does eventually pair successfully. There's just a lot of 'Wait...' messages. Note also that the manual states that the module will only work with Comand or Audio 20/50. I have an Audio 10 and it paired OK.
Phone book download (phone not SIM) is possible by entering '0000' and takes a few seconds to sync depending on how many contacts you have. If you update your contacts you need to repeat the procedure.
As stated earlier in this thread, the contacts are defined as mobile or home on the display by a '/H' or '/M' suffix. However... You need to set up your contacts correctly in order for this to work: Mobile numbers should be entered as 'Mobile' but home numbers need to be entered as 'Tel(home)' and NOT just 'Telephone' as mine were. Initially only the mobile numbers were downloaded until I edited the entry.
After unlocking the car the b/t connection takes about 30 odd seconds before pairing and a further minute or two before the phone book is available but subsequently works well. Note that 'Remote SIM Mode' must also be selected.

Hope this helps.

Try downloading the .sisx file from Nokia for the N95 for their 810 bluetooth kit, it fixed the phonebook issue on my N95 when used with SAP in my Audi A8 W12, I have now deleted all my SIM contacts and use the phone book exclusively.

I also have the A2048200535 Bluetooth SAP Adapter and a car with Audio 10. How did you obtain the 16 digit PIN code from your car's display to enter into the phone for the initial pairing process. My car's display will only show 12 digits (and not the last 4 digits) and as a result, I can't pair my phone up.

Any advice/assistance here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

I don't have any guidance for Audio 10 on my BT SAP device user manual, is is supposed to work with that HU?

Would it work if you paired the phone with the puck on another car?

OK, Have a pen and paper handy. When the 16 digit PIN appears in the display you have to delete the first 4 digits (make a note of them first or remember them). This will then allow you to see the remaining 12 digits.

Hope this helps

Try downloading the .sisx file from Nokia for the N95 for their 810 bluetooth kit, it fixed the phonebook issue on my N95

- I'm thinking of changing my phone to an N95, but currently have the HFP puck. Did anyone with HFP try this, and did it succeed in fixing the phonebook download?

And what about the Samsung Tocco - Anyone tried that with HFP yet?

By the way, if anyone is interested, I currently have a Sony Ericson W880i, which connects, but downloads the phonebook only sometimes. Not sure why, but it tends to do this after someone has called me!?!?
My wife's old Samsung E720 clamshell works a treat, including phonebook.
