Hello,

My alarm began playing up a few weeks ago. When there is a false alarm it always triggers within 10 minutes of 2345hrs !

I replaced the battery as it was 4 years old. The last time the car alarm went off falsely a lot, it was solved by a new battery (in 2003).

I'm beginning to think it might be electromagnetic interference, just because of the timing. Any thoughts?

Are you sure it is false??

23.45 is pub going home time. Is someone setting it off as they walk by???

Seems too much of a coincidence to me.

Try turning off the interior sensors for a night, see if that makes a difference.

Am pretty sure it is not a person. I have rushed into the street within a few seconds and seen no-one. There are few places to hide.

I've turned off the interior sensor and had two quiet nights so far - thanks for the advice Shude. Is there any way to permanently isolate the sensors? Presumably the immobiliser would still work... I prefer the occasional noise to losing the car altogether.

If you turn the sensors off the imobiliser will still be active... have you tried adjusting where they point? If they are facing down or towards the window they tend to be more sensitive...

I did not know they were adjustable. They are enclosed in a triangular box on the pillar between front and rear doors. It is a facelift 202. Might try and pull them apart however.

Yes, a couple of times I had a spider that used to come out to play about the same time every night.

Oh happy times, scrabbling around the car late at night, half naked, with a torch!

No half naked is enough to frighten them to death.:D :D

Hi there - I suffer the same problem - usually on those nights when I have to get up early! Having cleaned the car out to get rid of the midnight-emerging spiders, I noticed paw prints on the front windscreen - I suspect that the neighbours cat likes to lounge on the warm bonnet/roof and sets off the alarm as she passes very close to the windscreen.

Cat now walking with a limp and no reoccurrence for 2 weeks!
