Hi All friends,

I am getting a message ' check tail light r, substitute lamp on' message in the screen. I am a very new MBuser. Can someone put some light on to me please?

My car is c220 cdi 2003

Its refering to your Right hand tail light - its blown

I wish mine told you which light. when I get a blown out warning, it could be one of 20!

Without being sarcastic - I'm not sure that it could be much more descriptive - Trying checking the off side tail light because it has failed and the substitute is being used -

As i am not good in mechanical things, do i have to take it to a Garage to get it done ? anyone know any MB garage in newcastle or gateshead area ?

No - go to Halfords or a local motor factors if you are that frightened - cost you a couple of quid for not having to worry . Easy two minute job - leave the spare bulb(s) from the pack next to the little first aid pack thingy on the nearside.

Watch him - then you can do it yourself next time if you feel a bit happier .

If he starts ripping the rear seats out and looking in the glove compartment - he is in the wrong neck of the woods.

Makes me mad as well.
Only respite is that when you operate that switch, it does come on then, but when my parking lights went, i had to check all four and for the brake lights:mad:
