I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find an answer....

I want to upgrade my Audio 10Cd to a Command v2.0 in my W203. If I just pop out the old and pop in the new will it work with the Instrument cluster display? I thought I read somewhere that something may need reprogramming?

Cheers for any help

Welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place. :)

Its not just a straight swap i'm afraid.

You will need a loom adapter, GPS antennae, a navigation disk and some tools! It will take you a couple of hours at least if you are not familiar with dismantling your centre dashboard.

Once installed the comand will work fine but will need the car to be coded for the instructions to display in the instrument cluster.

If you search the forum for 'Comand' you will find all sorts of useful info ;)

Thank for the info. One other thing, is it true you can't get a DVD version of the command for the W203?

You can get a DVD based comand for the W203 but it will only work in the post facelifted W203 cars. Thats those with a build date of april 2004 onwards.

Miro and sunman have both modified W203 pre-facelifted cars to be essentially post facelifted ones. However, the work involved is extensive and only undertaken by those who really know what they are doing. It would be cheaper and easier to simply trade the car in for a post facelifted one!

I am actually enjoying a comand Aps which is strictly DVD based on my 2005 C230 (W203). So.......
To make it clear:
There is also Audio 50 which is Cd based and Comand aps which is DVd based. Both of them give Navigation to your car...

But he has an Audio 10 which means his car is a pre facelifted one so the COMAND APS and APS 50 units do not apply.

:) You are absolutely right... Sorry for that. I thought, he was looking for a command aps upgrade, and given your answer, I wrongfully thought you said that he could actually install comand aps!!!!

once again, sorry both to Alfie and keyring
