Souness, welcome to the forum. I wish I could help, but am not really that mechanically minded. Ian Walker is probably the best bloke to get in touch with, he is on this forum, but is busy at the minute with his new business,if you give him a chance, he will be in touch though.
And on a lighter note, perhaps you could have thought of a better user name as you have alienated all Liverpool, Rangers, Newcastle and of course Everton fans!!!:D

You can do lots of tests on the early models with a automobile digital voltmeter with a duty cycle facility if you know what you are doing. Fluke do one but not cheap! I am sure there are others.
