Hi to all

I have a 1999 S Class W220 with a 2.5 comand unit I hope someone will help with a couple of problems I am having.
The first is the comand unit will not regocnise my CD changer or the Phone, when I select either the CD changer or the phone it comes back with "No CD changer" and "No Phone".
I have download the latest software into the unit in the hope that it would solve the problem, but still the same.
The other problem is, in trying to solve the phone problem I took apart the phone cradle and broke the micro switch on the pcb so that now I have a US phone cradle (WELL DONE ME!!!) .
The phone cradle is for a nokia 3110, the nokia 3110 works fine when not in the cradle. So if anyone has a old cradle knocking about I would be most interested to but it.

I would be very grateful for any help,

Cheers to all !!!!!

probably you damaged the fiber optical cable and all the fibre optical connected devices do not work. just replace the fiber optical harness and everything will work like a treat! I hope this helps.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, the phone is not fibre optic but the cd changer is.
I have checked the fibre optic to and from the changer and all is okay.

Thanks away

What kind of phone system do you have? If it is integrated to the command and it is a genuine mercedes phone system, then it is fiber optical, the optical cable goes all the way to the rear boot compartment where it connects to the phone controller, not to the phone cradle in front of the car. If there is a problem somewhere in the optical harness, then all the optical system will not work even if the cd changer side of the optical cable is fine. The send and return of the fiber optical has to perfectly loop back otherwise no device works. I hope this helps.

Thanks again, the fibre optic I have checked comes out of the comand unit and goes to the CD changer in the boot, which both the sender and receiver are okay. Where is the phone contoller in the boot, I thought that the phone harness went straight to the comand unit.
The phone is a gen merc system.

Thanks for your help

After 2weeks of trying to solve this problem I have finally cracked it.
The fault was caused by a poor connection, this connection is located under the front passengers carpet.
If you lift the carpet you will see some black trunking, open the trunking nearest the seat and look for a connection of blue/black coloured cables.
These cables are the wake up signals to the CD, Telephone etc.
My connection looked okay at first but on a closer look one connection/cable had come lose.
Cut back about 1/2 inch and remake the connection (I soldered them together).
Tested and all now working I now have my CD player and Telephone working.
So if any one else as this problem before you go out and buy a new comand unit check this connection and save yourself some money
