Hi,
Just recently purchased a full faced command system for a E Class W211 of ebay. Can anyone tell me if I need to also buy a navigation module to make it work?

Depends on the part number - I think (not 100% sure) that a few of the units do contain the NAV unit, but certainly most (maybee all) dont.
If you look at www.mercupgrades.com and the comand-aps part numbers list, and look at the part number, it may have a comment telling you .. maybee a bit hard to read, I will make it more readable sometime tommorow
Cheers

By definition if you bought the full system there wouldnt be any parts missing. So what exactly did you buy ?

As Richard says, most of these units have a navigation module which sits in the boot of the car.

Sadly I think many of the sellers of COMAND / COMAND-APS are not as honest or knowledgable about what they are selling as you ..

I think I am allergic to the words "fully loaded" or the word "full" - I was sitting in an SL65 the other day and the host told me "every box was ticked" - I looked up at him and said "how do I engage the Distronic" (which wasnt there). If I owned a car like that it would see 10x more road than most of them do.
We need a photo of the purchase to see what the deal is.

Thank guys,
Sadly having looked at what Richard sent me I don't seem to be any further forward
The SATNAV is a BE 7039
Part No. A211 870 00 89 001
Date of Manufacture 40/04?
526 BE703941074037 4
At the back of the system there are two sockets
Small square socket with what appears to be two round fibre optic connectors blue and white. At the side of that are four small male pins in a block shape(square)
To the left of that there is also a small L - shaped with 3 small horizontal male pins

Seeing as you are the first person to do this then there is no need to search the forum.

Option 526 is COMAND DVD EUROPE WITHOUT NAV
I.e you need a seperate NAV unit.
Are there any other markings on it ? (particularly part numbers starting with A211 xxx xx xx - You may need a seperate Audio Gateway as-well
Look on EBAY , there is someone selling all 3 units in one advert - which may help you

Richard,
I am lead to believe that I won't need the audio gateway because the APS 20 that is currently in has a tape player.
The picture you have shown, I have the two sets of connectors on the right.
Do you think the system will connect with the original wiring in place or will have have to get a separate wiring harness
Any help would be appreciated
Alan
p.s how were you able to insert a picture ?

A long time ago I bought the exact same unit only to discover it needed an additional navigation unit in the boot to actually have navigation working!

You need an amplifier and a navigation drive and a bucket load of parts.

Fitted the SATNAV with the original connectors from my APS 20.
The screen comes on, it recognisies the 6 CD changer and plays, Radio fine, Obviously there's no naviagtion (states navigation not activated)
Plays DVD's However one big problem none of the bottom pannel buttons work including, mute, CD eject (Can't remove the DVD I put in)
Does anyone have any ideas how I could remove the CD without the eject button??? working
Please help !!!

Helps if you buy a working head unit for starters. Welcome to the "I should have bought it from Steve" Club.

Miro,
I feel your comments are little insensitive, maybe be Steve was too expensive?
Please only reply if you've something constructive to say.

I find it pointless to offer assistance to people who feel that the know better than MBENZNL. If you saw it on eBay did you ever stop to ask why it was for sale.
A radio or APS low end model I can understand. But a COMAND .... hardly.

That suggest a faulty unit - had the same with my W203 Comand. Replaced under warranty.
