Hi Everybody! My very first post... :D

I've had a 99 CLK for a little over a year and decided to take the plunge and (retro) fit a Comand unit. Done all the research regarding the type of unit I need but I have a couple of generic questions...

Does the 99 CLK have the CAN hardware..? Should I make use of the CAN if fitted..?

The car has the multi function steering wheel/dash display..which I assume I can hook into using a CAN bus (if hardware is present)..?

There is an MB autochanger in the boot which again I assume might be a reasonably simple connection..?

Great site! Thanks in anticipation!

There is a contradiction in your post. If you know which COMAND you need then you will also know if you need the facelift CAN version W208 or the pre-facelift ML version for W163.

If your steering wheel has buttons on it for radio then you need the first one.

I can help you with this ;)

You have a facelifted CLK which requires a CANBUS unit. The ideal unit you need is an A208 820 40 89 or an A208 820 44 89. Alternatively an A210 820 54 89 or an A210 820 56 89. I can supply these for you!

Your CD changer can easily be hooked up to the comand also.

There are lots of threads about fitting COMAND in CLKs. Alfie did an excellent How To which I followed, plus I posted my own experiences of fitting COMAND in my CLK (facelift) which might come in useful.

Good luck in this endeavour spup!
