Hi all,
Hopefully someone may be able to help me out on this. I recently bought a '97 e200 for my wife but it has started to develop a few electrical gremlins.
When the alarm is armed both the red and green lights on the mirror flash like crazy for about 30 seconds but the central locking is working ok. I tried to pull the fuse and the lights worked ok- for the next two times the alarm was armed. then back to disco lights again.
Als, while I was driving the car the other night the full beams wouldnt turn back on for me, they will flash when you pull back the stalk but won't come on when you push it forward. New stalk time??
All help really appreciated

The flashing lights on the mirror means low battery in the key fob - should be covered in the handbook.

Problem with the headlights does sound like new stalk time.

Welcome to the forum, by the way :)

I had exactly the same thing with the full beam lights - flash OK but not coming on otherwise - new stalk fixed mine.

Cheers,
Adam.

Thanks guys. Excuse the stupidity but I'm new to Merc's after 10 years of bm's. I got a full dealer history with the car but no handbook!
I know its a little off topic but roughly what should the normal running temp be?
Thanks again:)

I just had this conversation with someone a couple of days ago. My car's a W124, 320 so it's going to be different to yours, but normal opearting temp between 80 and 100(+) deg is no problem.

I was concerned that my cooling fans weren't kicking in. They do, but 100deg isn't hot enough to trouble them

Not stupidity at all if you don't have a handbook! BTW you may be able to order one from a M-B dealer, or get one on eBay. I picked up the sales "brochure" (actually a 50-odd page A4 hardback book!), UK spec. sheet, and price list ... all for my '97 model year ... for about £12 in total.

The thing with the blinking lights had me worried too, but at least I was able to look it up!

Enjoy your Merc. :)
