Ok

I have an intermittent problem.

The remote will not open the car. I have replaced the batteries.

I have to open car with key. This only opens the drivers door, if I then put on the ignition and operate the dash switch so the central locking opens and the remote works fine foe a couple of days but then the problem reappears.

C200 1997 Sport

Any ideas

Have you got a clean battery connection in your fob? Could be worth cleaning it and the battery with a suitable alcohol based liquid.

Also is the battery connection tight? If nt - you might not be getting a secure connection making it intermmitent.

Sound like the remote needs re setting to the car there is a sequence to do that.

Maybe the fob needs to be re-learned by the car? I think this is in the manual somewhere, alternatively I'm sure your dealer will do it while you absorb a coffee.

Here you go

IR Locking

From what I remember doing on mine it was point at sensor on mirror. turn on off twice in ignition and the press at sensor again.

On my wife's C180 facelift, pressing unlock once only unlocks the driver's door (security feature).
Pressing a second time unlocks the rest of the car.
I think you can change the way it unlocks, but don't know how.
Edit:- 2 other replies whilst I was typing this.....

Edit:- 2 other replies whilst I was typing this.....Holding down the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for approx 5 seconds toggles the newer DAS security systems from driver's door only mode to all doors.

Is it also possible to enable the 'auto-locking' at 5mph as well ?
Wifey's car (late R reg) doesn't do it, but F-In-L's car does (early S reg).
