Does anyone know what are the differences (if any) from a comand model 210 820 5489 and a 210 820 5689 other than the year it was made from.

The correct model to suit my E220 CDI (W210, 2002) would be the later model (with CAN) but I have seen a model 210 8205489 for sale and wonder whether this is also compatible and will work with the instrument panel. :)

The difference is the software, but that can be updated.

Other than that both units will work just fine in your car.
