Dear Guys, I read a lot of old tread on "not working fuel gauge and relevant sending units".

This happen me this morning:
starting the car the fuel gauge is still down with reserve light on!
I've turned off and started again and the gauge now seems work right

To note that the tank has been filled up full a couple of days ago, and I've done already about 50km so, at the moment it was not full full (I've read the suggestion to avoid overfilling).

I've also read about the slow movement of the gauge when the "sending unit" (two in the fuel tank) work bad, in my case, as soon I restarted the car the gauge jump up immediately.

So, please what do you suggest?

It' a sendind units problem or a gauge contacts problem?

Thanks for you help ;)

mine is a kompressor W202, year '98.

My w202 had this 2 weeks ago. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt, sometimes it would stick at a given point, sometimes it would reset if you started again. Steve changed both the senders in the tank and now everything works perfectly. MB parts were £130. Steve charged me £50 to fit them as a favour. MB wanted £230 to fit them.

Sooner or later you'll have to change them:(

this is the really nicest part of your reply :)

thanks a lot, because I've read around that the work is about 600$ (W202 forum)

So it's quite affordable.

But I'd like to be sure it's relevant to both senders and not to a gauge failure in the clusters
