Spoke to MB yesterday about the potential to upgrade my tired Nokia 6310i, which is linked to the (already upgraded) factory fit phone system.
There is no MB upgrade path, but he said MB have a stock of 6310i's @ £200 a pop!

Does anybody know of an integrated 3rd party (universal) solution, preferably to Bluetooth?

Could UHI (Universal Handy Interface) be adapted?

Have read RGC's post 'Cannot Upgrade Phone 18 Mar 05'. Has anybody actually costed & DONE it. Am quite handy. I think I could manage with some advice.

(My 3 year waranty runs out in under a month. MB have again had the car to sort out DELIVERY faults!)

I would just replace the 6310i telephone, you can easily get SIM free models at much lower prices. Mine is Sim free and its great when going overseas, I just buy a local Sim card and then can phone home dirt cheap. OK the 6310i does not take photos has no clever ring tones but you can talk, text, keep your diary on it and use it globally.

The following sites have it at a reasonable price, but I am sure you could find others.

http://www.directmobileaccessories.co.uk/

Price £164

Price £145

Or just check out ebay. You can buy a new case for them and fit this yourself if you get a couple of the special screw drivers these are also available on ebay for a couple of £ and often come with a new case.
