2001 C-Class coupe Rear Lights Problem

The driver information system keeps saying that the rhs rear brake bulbs on our C-Class coupe has failed. The brake light doesn't come on.

The bulb is OK and has been fitted my mercedes. I have been told it may be a problem with the rear SAM. Electrical items in the car such as the stereo, air con etc all have intermittant faults.

The car is with Andy Gale at the moment, but he says it can take a long time to track these problems down.

Anybody had the same problem and fixed it on a similar car?

Had a problem on my W203 saloon that was at first telling me that reverse lamp was out when it was not for a whole day. Aferwards, the rear lights would flicker/dimm constantly at regular periods - this was tracked down to a faulty REAR SAM unit module which was replaced. Sometimes, restting the REAR SAM via star could resolve problem - it may even possibly the circuit board on ur lighting casuing the problem. Star should really pickup the fault codes and indicate where the problem lies and not take that long. Stealership I used were quick with their diagnosois.
