Intermediate wiper

Hi,
When I use the intermiediate wiper setting, I can hear an intermittent clicking noise in the dashboard (like a relay).
Is this normal?, as it is annoying.

It omits one click every 7-10secs

it doesnt do this on my CLK but it does on my previous cars (Rover 420, Citroen picasso, Alfa 146), so i would say *probably* normal.
