I can't get the cassette out of my Sony XR-C650RDS headunit, when I press the eject button the unit tries then gives up. I looked in the instructions but no help. I looked for a hole in the front that sometimes allows you to release it, no luck. Do I have to bite the bullet and take the thing apart?

I had the same issue with a 6 disc changer and the cartridge wouldn't come out.

Took it apart in the end!

I had the same problem a few years back.... I managed to get the cassette out without any damage... I used some needle long nose pliers and when I pressed the eject button I gently got ahold of the cassette and it pulled up and out gently...
I took the feeling that if I break something, its no real problem as the cassette was stuck in there anyway....
The tape may break but just make sure that you get all that out before inserting another cassette...

i remember a similar problem on an old head unit, have you tried the reset button usually found on the casing somewhere this then ejected tape on its own

yea, guess I'll have a go with some pliers then and dismantle it if the cassette breaks or is still stuck. There is a reset button on the front inner panel but it doesn't seem to help with a stuck cassette, not actually sure it does anything!
