thinking about it, the BOSE option retrofit will likely be a fortune so i guess i have some other options.

1)command - does it have an aux out so i can hook a subwoofer up to it?

2)replace system with new HU and sub amp package...most cost effective but is there any way to get the steering wheel buttons to work with the new HU, i'd prob go fro alpine set up all round.

If you are going for Alpine you can get an additional module that will allow you to use the steering wheel remote.....

You could try asking on another forum for car audio.

http://www.caraudiosecurity.com/ is the shop site, and the forum is at:

I think you need to register but it is free.

They should be able to help.
I've got the Alpine catalogue at home and it might say in there!

If I remember I'll have a look tonight. :)

Just looked at their website and they have a steering wheel adaptor for the C Class
and one for the E Class / CLK

Check this link...

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/index.php+cPath+48_208_253

Edit to add...

Product Features

This Interface works only with Mercedes C-Class and C-Sportcoupe. For CLK please use KCE-868B. No additional cables required.

For the installation a special Mercedes tool is necessary to remove the Ignition key. Installation should be done at a Mercedes dealer.
This interface will not work in combination with Speed-Control.
Product Description

Only compatible with Alpine stereos that are steering wheel remote ready

looks pretty promising...

I have a budget of 400ish....I want a good alpine headunit, 250 quid ish i suppose. But what sort of sub should i go for? I want a decent sound rather than super bass.

anyone have some good equipment for sale!!!!

Hi

The other advantage with Alpine is that they have IPOD connectivity, so you do away with the Autochanger. :D

As you are in Bromley, you could try Orpington car stereo or Autoleck in Welling.

Is fitting this interface dealer only cos I reckon they are gonna charge an arm and a leg, why does the ignition need to be removed?

I am fitting an Apline 9831R into my C 220 Coupe and want to use the steering wheel controls if I can - the KCE-863-B should be the bit I need but I don't feel good about paying Merc a pile of hard earned!!

Simon, any decent car stero supplier will supply and fit it for you... not a dealer job

Rich, check out www.talkaudio.co.uk, also ring alpines support number, they are very good, its on their website.
