COMAND CD failure

I have a CLK Cabriolet 430 coming up to 4 years old

The CD slot on my COMAND, where the SatNav disc goes, is flaky

It sometimes reports 'CD Reading Error - insert another Nav disk'

I have tried a Bib cleaning disc to no avail

Stealer wants £2500 plus VAT for replacement

Can I get one out of a smashed vehicle ?

Does anyone fix them ?

Take the lid off and clean it with a brush!

Mine does the same thing sometimes, I reckon it's just dust.

yeah tried all that - didn't do a thing

BUT MERCEDES DID !

they have replaced whole unit out of warranty ...

maybe they noted I just bought new SL600 loaded ...
