Looks promising. Hopefully might be a solution for my MY04 E Class (no COMAND unfortunately). I'd like to know of a decent installer for this too in the UK.

Timing is everything!! On Saturday I gave up waiting for an iPos solution and bought a powered AUX input for my Pioneer head unit. The HU sees it as another source, so I can flick thru Tuner, CD, Changer and now AUX as well.

It has no control for iPod so there is no FF REW etc, but I just created a couple of Playlists and Bob's my uncle. It can accept a connection from anything with an audio out, so is pretty flexible.

Shame there's no easy way of doing that with the standard W211 E Class head unit. Your set up sounds neat. IMHO Mercedes are missing a trick by not offering a slick BMW / IPod type solution.

Cheers.. Just been looking in my car (March 2004 E Class Wagon) as I thought I'd better double check there's no aux input in the glovebox (I have Audio 20 not COMAND so I don't think so). There is a circular hole, covered by trim, at the top/centre of the glovebox. Is this where an input would be? Don't want to start ripping trim out but I'm curious if it may be there and just covered up.. Anyway, assuming it isn't, the icruze looks interesting..as does the solution at www.mp3yourcar.com This purports to be compatible with 2004 E Classes, although I'm not sure if the US standard E Class Audio is different.. I've fired off an email to check.

Alpine has a few HU's with full iPod support (you can control the iPod from the HU). Here's the link http://www.alpine-europe.com/driveyouripod/

Does anyone else know if there's an aux input hidden there? Think there's a few other MY04 E Class owners on here..

Greg, don't know specifically about the E Class, but certainly on the CLK, on the right-hand side of the glovebox is a round cut-out than can simply be pushed out. The AUX-IN connector is then fitted in the cut-out. If I had to guess, I would say that the E class was the same.

Thanks. Was the aux in already hiding behind there in your car, or did you need to get it fitted?

No, it wasn't there, I had to buy one (IIRC £15). This was for connection to COMAND, sorry don't know about Audio 20. Very easy to fit, if Audio 20 has AUX-IN inputs.

(Just remembered that the cut-out was actually on the left-hand side. I cut another one out on the right ... and then noticed the cut-out  :D )
