W124 front speaker replacement

What size are the standard front speakers on a W124?
Anyone got any recommendations for a replacement model?

Take off the panel and measure them. They'll either be 16.5cm or 13cm. Most likely 16.5cm, although I don't know anything about 124s so don't quote me on that.

I wouldn't recommend anything to anybody because I only buy Sony, and although the work wonders for me, even though I have to custom make my own adaptors, most people don't like 'em. :) So if you want my opinion, go with Sony. :P

They are an odd size IIRC. I cant remember the name of the firm that makes the right sized ones but it was something like Rainbow??

They are 13cm...
We put a set off mbquart co-axials in one of our delivery vehicles and they sounded ok...

Rainbow are very high quality! if you are willing to part with the money, you won't be dissapointed.

cheers all. I measured the holes and they were 11cm :confused: so I've dropped some 10cm JBL GTO 2-ways in and it sounds much better, very clean and crisp top end with relatively punchy bass for the size.
That'll do me for now :)

The hole is 11cm...that's to fit a 13cm speaker :)

I got Infinity Reference 412i ' s in mine (they are 4 inch)

I'm installing some Rockford fosgate 13 cm 2 way speakers in the front pods. I just have to cut off the screw holes from the speakers so they'll fit flush. I will attach using some double side sticky pads.
