Best performance tyres for E63 AMG 6.2 (2011)?

Hi everyone,

I think this may have been posted in the past but for some reason, I am unable to properly search the forum so my apologies if this is a repost for some of you...

I have been driving with Falken FK453 tyres (Falken FK453 Front 255/35 and rear 285/30 19' alloys)for the past 12 months and have all 4 changed twice and replaced with the same types. Whilst I can say that I am happy with these tyres, which give a good balance between performance and good value for money, I am thinking of trying different tyres when they are due to be changed. During my research, the Falken FK453 are considered performance tyres but not high performance tyres and I am wondering which tyres, I should really go for...

It is a bit challenging as it can be quite difficult to find all 4 same types of tyres and the choice is limited when I have rear tyres of 285/30 with 19'. Hence, why I opted with the Falken in the first place as I could fit all 4 with the same kind. My first choice was to try the Michelin sport pilot 4 but they do not make it in 285/30 19'?? Not sure why. It is a shame as I think they are rated to be one of the best in high performance tyres. Michelin claims that their high performance tyres are better than Pirelli and Continental such as breaking quicker, saving fuel and last longer...

As an alternative, I found another make, which is with Continental contisportcontact 5 and I could go with all 4 tyres but would only chose them if they are really better than the Falken. I understand that Continental are the factory choice with AMG and so would be tempted to try them when my tyres are due to be replaced.

I would love to hear your experience and your choice of tyres and which ones you would go with and why etc.
Thank you.

Hi the continental 5 are better than the Michelin let alone the Falken I've tried many makes of tyres on my amgs and I find the contis extremely good tyres don't last long but awesome grip in the dry or wet.

Got conti 5p on mine all round and just replaced the rears with new conti 5p again, honestly one of the best tyres I've used.

Whatever you do don't go for p zeros.

There appears to be quite few threads on which tyres to use on AMGs.

Is it the general opinion that the Conti 5 is better than the Conti 6?

I've gone with Hankook Evo S2's. Good grip and good wear, although I did get 20k out of the bridgestones!
