As I said, GIMP is worth what you pay for it and despite all it's faults it's OK if you are happy to live with it because it's free

A Photoshop licence costs about £500 and it's worth every penny. Doing the same jobs in a straight head to head with the GIMP makes it look like a bargain

I think the GIMP is far too overcomplicated for what the OP asked and would need too much learning for the average user
